I am pretty excited today. I hosted a class last evening with a great friend about Healthy/Happy Babies with Young Living Essential Oils and it went great! I have never done a Facebook class before so I was a little bit scared on how it would work or if I would basically fall flat on my face and screw it all up. Did I mention that I had 160 people that joined the event!?? Holy crap that was scary and I had moments before the class of pouting to Doug and stomping my feet begging him to teach it for me. Yea, sometimes I turn into a little kid and am like “I’m not doing it! I can’t do it! Do it for me!”
I’m sure my fiance loves those moments.
So, here’s what I did-
I had previously created about 11 PowerPoint slides of content that I saved individually in a folder that I could easily reference on my desktop. Doug and I went through each one before the class and the flow of slides so I could master what I was going to say. Doug use to be a sales dude so he knows how to word stuff. To me, the whole sales game can be slimey and uncomfortable so it’s hard for me to ask for sales. Actually, part of the reason that I love Young Living EO’s is that the products sell them selves so it makes it pretty easy on the distributor.
Anywho, for those of you who have never attended a Facebook event, it’s actually really simple. Go to FB and create an event and be sure to make it PUBLIC! If you make it private, other’s can’t share your event. The host provides a conference line that the participants dial into a few minutes before the class starts. Then, the leader (which was me) called the conference bridge and opened it up with the host access code. I dialed in about 5 minutes before the class started so I could welcome peeps on the line. When the participants are on, (depending on the conference bridge that you use) you can mute all of the participants so it’s only you that is talking.
Tell the participants how the FB meeting works so they know to stay on the FB event page during the entire class so they can follow along with the content that you’re posting.
While you talk through the content, you upload a picture file (mine were the PowerPoint slides I created) to the FaceBook event page. You do this so the participants can read along and see the products that you’re talking about. I had Doug upload the slides to the event page while I was talking so I could have some easy transitions from one slide to the next. I’m not quite sure if I’m confident enough to multi-task and upload the slides while I’m talking. Lord knows that I would get all confused and screw it up. Hey, one day I will get to that point… just not yet.
Really, it’s that simple. Anyone can do this.
The results of the class were pretty cool. I have 3 people who are purchasing stuff, a whole slew of other folks that have questions about the products. I also have a whole lot more new friends!
Another thing I love about this is that not all distributors like doing these classes, so it’s a way for me to help other distributors who aren’t even in my downline grow. I LOVE that. I want everyone to prosper and this is a win-win for not only me but for other great people who are a part of this business.
Check out the link below so you can see what the event looked like and the slides I used. Hey, maybe one day soon you can do your own class! I’m totally game for helping anyone who wants to do one, because after all – when we help one another we all grow 🙂
