As most of you may know, I’ve embarked on the challenge of building my own business so I may be a stay at home chick when I have kiddos. This has always been a dream of mine to have freedom and spend my time the way I want and with who I want. I do have a Corporate job now and am so thankful for it. But, one day I plan to be completely self sustaining on my own.
With that being said, I want to make a few points about the challenges with competition in the industry that I am in.
Well, honestly in my opinion there really isn’t competition because Young Living provides the highest grade essential oils out there. But, I don’t know that people completely understand that so I want to cover the differences in quality that you can find at the stores and online from other brands.
Today you can find 4 different grades of oil.
The first is therapeutic grade which is Young Living’s standard. But what is therapeutic grade? It means that the oils are pure and extracted from sustainable raised plants and contain optimal levels of natural plant compounds found in organic botanicals.
Next you’ll see natural or organic essential oils. These oils have sustained growing standards but may or may not contain optimal levels of plant compounds that are found in therapeutic grade essential oils. People usually confuse these oils with therapeutic grade because of how well companies market the products (Whole Foods, GNC, and a host of online companies that profess to be this grade).
Another are called extended or altered oils and are considered fragrant oils because they do not contain or only contain minimal amounts of the plant compounds. And keep in mind that the plant compounds may not be organic as well.
Lastly are synthetic oils that are created in a lab with no plant compounds so there are absolutely no health benefits from these oils. The only benefit is that they smell good. You can also place these in heating dishes for the fragrance to permeate through your room because you don’t have to worry about killing any of the plant constituents. Why may you ask, because there are no plant compounds in them…
Therapeutic grade oils cannot be put into a burner, they have to be cold diffused so the machine does not heat, which kills, the plant constituents that provide the great health benefits.
So, why am I bringing this up? I’ve had questions and statements from people saying that they can find cheaper oils at places like Whole Foods and online (Amazon). Yes, you can use those but now you know that you are not getting the highest grade oils out there so in essence (depending on what your end goal is), you’re wasting your money.
If you and I discuss the health benefits from certain oils and then you go buy a lower grade oil, then the benefits we discussed no longer apply. Sure, you may need to spend a few bucks more for therapeutic grade oils, but in the long run you’re getting much more WORTH for your money.
One last thing I want to mention is Amazon. I’ve had a few people, that instead of ordering from me have gone to Amazon to purchase their products. No big deal guys, I’m happy you’re thinking healthy and natural and are exploring cheaper alternatives. Yes, you can find YL oils on Amazon and yes they may be a little bit cheaper. BUT, look at it this way if you don’t mind… the person who spent their time explaining things to you and working to help you are building a business.
They aren’t joking with this stuff. It’s their livelihoods that are at stake here so think about that before you go help a giant corporation that doesn’t care if you spend 20 to 30 bucks with them. The little guy or gal going over stuff with you knows that every penny counts and needs your help. It’s funny because I talk with so many people about how they want to help small business but when the time comes, they don’t. I get it that everyone is on a budget so if you just can’t afford the few dollars more, it’s not a big deal. However, it is a big deal to your health.
The goal here is education and the more and more people that are at least exploring the natural side of things, the better.
Just keep the little guy in the back of your mind though when making that final decision.
Every penny counts to everyone.
Cheers to health, wealth and abundance all.
