I bet you have heard of a pyramid scheme. You know, the business or whatever in the heck it is where one person will recruit individuals, take their money and get rich off them? Pyramid schemes are scary. Who would want to be involved with one? Like no one right? I don’t want to be a part of one. By the way they’re illegal so… they really don’t exist anymore.
The reason why they’re illegal is because they weren’t really a business. A business must provide some sort of product or service for the money they are taking from customers. Pyramid schemes did the exact opposite of that. They only recruited people, took their money and offered zero products or services in return. For the money the people paid in, the person above them would get rich. Hence the reason why each person would try and recruit people to go underneath them. It really was all about making the person above you rich and recruiting as many people as humanly possible. Yuck, that sounds horrible.
So let me make sure I understand this correctly; I pay you, you make money, I get people to pay me so I make money? I also can’t ever surpass the person above me in income, so I’m basically just making you rich? Screw that. That sounds like zero fun. Thank God they’re no longer allowed and if people start them, they’re put out of business quite promptly and all people involved lose all money invested.
So what’s a great alternative to this that has no correlation whatsoever? Direct sales or Network Marketing.
I had a party this weekend and had some flyers sitting around of classes that I will be teaching this week and a few people saw them and said “Oh no it’s one of those pyramid schemes.” It took me a minute to hold my tongue and say “no, it’s nowhere near like a pyramid scheme and then I go into explaining all the stuff I just talked about above.
Network Marketing looks nothing like a pyramid. It’s more like a line of people with a big giant wide array of people underneath them that continues on into infinity. What’s also cool about Network Marketing is the people who sign up underneath you, can surpass you in rank and in income. I have one woman in my downline who has already done just that. She makes more than me and is a higher rank. Tell me which regular corporation allows you to do that? None.
Everyone is given an equal chance. Everyone works off of the same compensation plan and has the same odds at succeeding. It just depends on how much work you want to/can put into it.
Now that I have this issue cleared up, I hope that you see Network Marketing for what it really is; a way to create an additional income on your own free time. Meanwhile, you get to use top notch products and help people. It really is a win-win. Some people even make this their full time gig. Think about it, a life where you get to work from home, be around your family more, make your own hours… Sounds wonderful right?
I hope that now, you will look at Network Marketing not with the view that it’s a pyramid scheme, but that it’s a great opportunity for you and your friends or loved ones.
