I can tell you one thing. We’re not perfect. We’re not the type of family that has some perfect Thanksgiving food display with crystal and napkin holders. We’ve tried that like once because my mom likes to attempt to be fancy. After we did all that and then used a million dishes, we realized that paper plates work just as well. I don’t have beautiful serving platters, I don’t think they’re worth my money. All I have are cookie sheets that work just fine with a layer of aluminum foil on top before you plop the food on.
We’re not rich but we’re not poor. We will always have a roof over our heads and will always have food in our belly’s. You know why? Because we take care of one another. We may hate each other at certain points. Like literally hate one another to the point of saying, “I’ll never speak to so and so again.” That doesn’t matter though because we always come back to one another. Through thick and thin, we’ve got each others backs.
I can say that about a few friends but know that in the end, it’s family that counts; they’ll never leave me or hate me for a dumb decision or judge me because I acted in a way contrary to what they felt I should act.
Even though I don’t even have a dining room table and we used fold out tables with table cloths yesterday, we still had a blast. We all still had really freaking amazing food. We still all watched football together and laughed at silly jokes my uncle always tells. We still all passed out because of being so full. We all still loved one another. And that to me, is what matters. The fancy schmancy stuff, just doesn’t matter.
I’m not saying that one day I won’t have a mansion with fancy schmancy stuff, but I can tell you that I will still have my family and they will be on top of that mountain right there with me.
If you were blessed with a wonderful Thanksgiving like I was, I hope you are grateful…
To Mom, Caleb, Rachel, Scott, Blake, Uncle Duane and of course my one and only Doug. I love you, to eternity and back.
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for gracing me with your wonderful presence. (Except for Caleb that is… you’re in Cali and I missed you).

Wow! Another terrific blog! Well, of course it is because it’s all about our wonderful family. Thank you my sweet for writing such wonderful and accurate prose about our close family.
I love you all and missed Caleb too! *-(
