It still amazes me when I look at my stats and see that people are still viewing my blog on days that I post nothing. I mean, I have’t posted in like 4 or 5 days. Ugh, I’m a slacker. Sometimes life just gets in the way.
Anywho, I myself have been wondering what Copaiba oil is really all about. It has been added into the premium starter kit recently and it’s one that has taken me a while to get used to. I just started really using it A LOT and am loving the benefits so far. So, for those of you with some Copaiba, you may really find this interesting. This oils has lots and lots of benefits.
There’s a few ways that oils can be extracted from plants or trees and while I’m not going to talk about all of the extraction techniques in this post, I will talk about how Copaiba is extracted. It’s steam distilled from gum resin from splitting stem bark. Yep, Copaiba is a tree and looks like this:
Isn’t it beautiful? The extraction technique kind of reminds me of The Hunger Games when Jennifer Lawrence has to stab the tree with a filter of sort that extracts the liquid from the inside out. The approach is similar here, but not quite. Either way, it’s my immediate go to try and get people to understand that you can actually extract oil from trees.
The word ‘”Copal” is derived from the Spanish word for incense (copelli) and can refer to any number of different resinous gums or exudates from trees in Malaysia and South America” (2.27). Back in the day, healers would use Copaiba for all sorts of things ranging from pain to inflammation. It can be taken internally or just applied externally and diffused.
Now this is cool to me since I’ve been dealing with a scratchy throat for the past week; in “Peruvian traditional medicine, three or four drops of the resin are mixed with a spoonful of honey and taken as a” natural” throat soother (2.27). You can also add 1/2 of a teaspoon to water and gargle. Copaiba can also be taken internally to support a healthy bladder, kidneys, and stomach. It’s also known to help with bug bites and support healthy looking skin.
There are many many more things that Copaiba can help with and I urge you to start reading into this oil. If you have any questions, never hesitate to contact me.
Have a great day everyone!
